It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of George Kyte at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Grandlake, he was the son of Mrs. Peggy Kyte and the late Birney Kyte. He spent his working years at the Sydney Steel Corporatio­n until his retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends telling stories.

Besides his mother, Peggy, he is survived by his sister, Valarie (Frank) Mullins; brother, Arnie ( Joanne) Kyte and many close cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his three special girls, Lisa (Andy) KyteMaxwel­l, Breanne Kyte and Jamie Kyte;

also by his former wife and close wife until the end, Cheryl Kyte. Uncle G will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
