Lillian Audrey Moquet

It is with great sadness, that we, her loving family, announce the peaceful passing of Lillian Moquet on Nov. 15, 2013, after a brief illness, at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Dwayne and Lillian ‘Lily’ (Ley) Walls.

She was a former member of St. Luke’s United Church in Donkin and was an active member of Gordon United Church, Reserve Mines.

Lillian taught school for many years in both Nova Scotia and Ontario. After the death of her husband Ambrose, she returned to Cape Breton to be closer to her family and friends. She was very active in several hobbies of craftworks, especially crewel work, sewing and she was also an avid reader. Lillian was a regular attendee at Gordon United Church until her health declined. Many thanks to her caregiver Linda Simm, who brought much comfort to Lillian and to her longtime childhood friend Rodina for her frequent visits.

Lillian will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, she was also predecease­d by her loving husband, Ambrose Moquet and several brothers and sisters.

In honouring Lillian’s wishes there will be no visitation.

Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.

A funeral service will be celebrated 11a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Gordon United Church, Reserve Mines, with Martha MacDonald officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. All are invited to join the family at a reception in Lillian’s home following church service.

Donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
