John ‘Jack’ Dean

80, Glace Bay

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John ( Jack) Dean on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at home, at age 80.

Jack was born in Birch Grove the son of John and Florence (Earle) Dean.

He was predeceased by three bothers, six sisters, three halfbrothers and two grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife, best friend and soulmate of 58 years, Evelyn (Brufatto) Dean; his daughter, Marion ( Kevin) MacDougall, Calgary, Alta.; his three sons, Stephen (Cindy) Dean, Clyde (Nancy) Dean, Glace Bay, Derrick (Gloria) Dean, Lloydminster, Atla.; his sister, Ann McLeod and brother Donald Dean, Glace Bay; 12 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

Jack was a coal miner for 32 years and was know for his keen sense of humour and his storytelling. He will be sadly missed by his Thursday night dart buddies.

At Jack’s request cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held at Curry’s Funeral Home 775 Main St.,

Glace Bay, with visitation from 12-2 p.m. Service will take place at 2 p.m. The Rev. Norman MacPhee will be officiating.
