Alexander ‘Sandy’ Allen Morris

Sandy passed away peacefully at Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck, N.S., on Nov. 20, 2013, at the age of 88.

Born in Port Hood, April 17, 1925, he was a son of the late Paddy and Florence (MacDon- ald) Morris.

Sandy lived in Colindale, moved to Alderwood, Baddeck in his later years.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Catherine (Burke), brother, Hughie, sister-in-law, Terry (English) Morris, brother-in-law Bill Chisholm as well as infant brothers, Charles, Hugh and Donald and nephew, Patrick Van Zupthen.

Sandy spent most of his time on the ocean as a fisherman and maintained a small beef farm. During the off-season he worked as a miner or heavy equipment operator. He was very mechanical­ly inclined and often fabricated his own parts as the need required.

He was a great storytelle­r, had a keen interest in music, enjoying both the Gaelic song and language. He possessed a charming sense of humour, while always looking forward to his next game of cards.

Sandy is survived by his seven children, Judy ( John) Young, Hali- fax, Patricia (Dennis) Milosek, Ottawa, Mary (Murray) Burke, Barrie, Anna (Manne) Wecke, Ottawa, Gerard (Michelle) Morris, Wasaga Beach, JP (Connie) Morris, Port Hood, Francis (Carol) Morris, Port Hood. Along with his children, he is survived by his 14 grandchild­ren, Clayton, Eilidh, Jenna, Steven, Jackie, Andrew, MacKayla, Crystal, Madison, Colin, Nolan, Brodie, Brooke and Jack.

Sandy is survived by sisters, Loranna Chisholm, Port Hood, Sr. Catherine Morris, Sydney, Sr. Mary Morris, Halifax, Theresa ( John) VanZupthen, Port Hood; and brothers, Fr. Eugene Morris, N.L., Fr. Angus Morris, Mabou, and Joe (Mary) Morris, Port Hood; and several nieces, nephews, grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws.

Visitation 7-9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, in Port Hood Resting Place, Main Street, Port Hood, N.S.. Funeral mass 11 a.m., Monday in St. Peters Catholic Church, Port Hood.
