Millicent ‘Missie’ MacLean

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we, the family, announce her passing on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Harboursto­ne Enhanced Care, Sydney.

Born in Sydney Mines on July 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John A. ‘Jack’ and Margaret (Guy) Bonnar.

She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines.

Missie is survived by her two daughters, Jackie (Philip) Penny and Mary Frances (Shawn) Marsh; her only grandson, Jordan Marsh and her only great-granddaugh­ter, Megan Smith. Also left to mourn are her sister, Lorraine Young, several nieces and nephews and good friends, Sarah Johnston and Crissa Hicks. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, John Peter MacLean, sisters, Jenny Piercey, Lovey Matthews, Hennie Matthews, Margaret Ferguson and Jessie Bonnar, sister-in-law, Opel Bonnar, brothers, Lemmie and Sylvie and her only granddaugh­ter, Kelly (Penny) Smith.

At this time the family would like to thank the staff of Mira Bay, Harboursto­ne in Sydney, for the love and kindness shown to Missie during her stay there, and also to her “bench friends,” Betty, Theresa and Dorothy.

Visitation for Missie MacLean will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebratio­n of her life will take place Monday at 11 a.m., in Trinity Anglican Church, Queen Street, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiatin­g.
