Pearl Eulalia ‘Lalie’ Head

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Lalie on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (MacIntyre) Currie.

Lalie was a devout and active member of the former St Leo’s parish and the Carmelite’s. She was one of the original Red Cross nurses and a member of the Sterling Card Club for over 40 years, and also enjoyed many card playing parties in her kitchen with family and friends where she displayed her wonderful sense of humour and skill, right until her passing. Mom loved all types of music, especially Irish and hymns of faith and inspiratio­n.

She is survived by her children, Peter, Port Morien, Kevin, Charmaine (Ira) Shepard, Cathy ( Mendel) Fowler, all of Glace Bay, Sharon ( Wayne) MacKinnon, Ottawa, Bernard ( Jean), Cold Lake, Alta., Anne ( Jim) MacDonald, New Glasgow, and Allan ( Alisa), Lantz, N. S.; 28 grandchild­ren, 41 great-grandchild­ren and six great- greatgrand­children, numerous nieces and nephews, whose names are too numerous to mention.

Mom was predecease­d by her loving husband, Tom, son, Ronald, granddaugh­ter, Beth, nephews, Tommy, Joe Shaw and Allan Currie, beloved siblings, Kay Wadden, Sadie Shaw, Ave, Allan, Daniel and Peter.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 2-7 p.m. at Curry’s Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23 at St Anne’s Church with the Rev. Leo Boone officiatin­g. The interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
