Charlotte Cecilia (Orychock) Landry

88, Sydney River

-

Our dear mother, Charlotte, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015.

Born in Whitney Pier, May 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anastasia Orychock.

In her early years, Charlotte worked at Woolworths and Fred’s Creamery. She was also employed for over 20 years at Zellers in Sydney, where she made many lifelong friends.

Charlotte was a long-standing member of Our Lady of Fatima CWL and member of the Spanish Bay Seniors Club. She enjoyed many hours crafting, crocheting and painting for family and friends.

Charlotte married her sweetheart and soulmate, Clarence Landry on July 4, 1945. Mom always made her family her first priority. Yearly family trips were a must. Many fond memories were made camping in Lake Ainslie. In her later years, she enjoyed spending summers in Islandview at the family bungalow and sailing on the Meliva D with family and friends. Charlotte loved preparing for a crowd, no matter how big the size, and there was always room for more.

Nothing made Mom more proud than her grandchildren, Cameron and Jackson. She was their biggest fan and took great pride in each of their accomplishments.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Patricia Marie (Glen) Martin, Sydney, and Peter Anthony Landry, Halifax. Also, her sister, Annie Hewak; sistersin-law, Catherine Orychock and Mary Orychock, brother-in-law, James Gallant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
