‘We always see some beautiful dresses’

Formally Yours dress sale set for Saturday at Emera Centre Northside

-

NORTH SYDNEY — If you don’t want to pay full price for a prom dress, then the place to be is the Emera Centre Northside on Saturday.

Formally Yours dress sale returns for a fourth consecutive year, offering young women the chance to purchase a previously owned dress for prom or other events requiring formal or semiformal wear at a fraction of its usual price.

Dress drop off will occur Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Cost to show one dress is $10, two dresses $20 and three dresses is $25. There is a limit of three dresses.

The dress sale takes place from 1-4 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee.

As a prom and semi-formal dress sale, Formally Yours is about the recycling of dresses and making prom and semi-formal events an affordable option for families.

“We always see some beautiful dresses. People are obviously not going to get what they paid for their dress, but if they want to get rid of their dress, it is a great way to do it and help raise money for youth that need it,” said Dr. Stephanie Langley, one of the event organizers.

“A priority is to provide a nice atmosphere for people to buy and sell dresses that includes a fitting room and a seamstress to offer alteration advice.”

All monies raised go to the Youth Health Centre at Memorial Composite High School in Sydney Mines.
