Robert Bruce ‘Bob’ Donnison

64, Sydney

-

It is with deep regret that I announce the passing of my brother, Robert Bruce ‘Bob’ Donnison, 64 of Sydney on Feb. 21, 2015.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Jim and Georgina (Matheson) Donnison.

Bob devoted his life to his trade. Through dedication and hardwork, he established Donnison Refrigeration and carried on in refrigeration as his late father had done years before. Unfortunately, because of his health, Bob had to retire early. Bob spent his remaining time, tending to his declining health; and in later years the welfare of our aging mom. He was never one to sit idle, he always could be seen involved in his house upkeep or some project in his workshop. An animal lover, Bob’s special ‘ buddies’ his German shepherds and himself could usually be seen together. Over the years Bob had several, the first being Jack and the last Brutus.

Bob will be greatly missed by his brother, Jim (Theresa), Sydney; nieces, Tammy Donnison, B.C., and Kelly Koop, Ont.; nephew, Jim (Tasha), Alberta; aunt, Effie Williams, Sydney, and cousin, Graham (Betty) Williams, Sydney.

As it was Bob’s request, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in the spring, at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Bob’s family would like to thank the doctors and other health-care professionals for their help and care throughout the years. Special thanks for services provided by Sydney River Volunteer Fire Department and EMS. Also many thanks to Bob’s neighbours and friends for watching out for him over the years.

Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.

Online condolences may be made by visiting www.twcurry.com.
