It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, Evelyn Keough (86) on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Harrena (Stubbert) Gadd.

Evelyn was a longtime resident of Lingan Road, Whitney Pier, Sydney, and had worked many years for the Cape Breton Regional School Board. Mom loved gardening and tending to her bird feeders, as well she enjoyed many years of family camping at Piper’s Campground, her frequent shopping trips, and she enjoyed regular drives with her husband to many places across Cape Breton Island, especially her favourite spot, Baddeck.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 67 years, Andrew ‘Buddy’; sons, Melvin (Diana), Sydney, Bobby (Carol), Sydney, Glen (Susan), Greenwood; daughter, Karen (Stuart) MacDonald, Sydney River. Sisters, Hilda, New Waterford, Willena and Gwen, B.C.; brother, Arthur (Ella), Ontario; seven grandchild­ren, Mark (Leah), New Brunswick, Tara (Billy), Sydney, Krista (Andrew), Halifax, Jason, Greenwood, Tammy (Mike) Grenier, Alberta, CherylAnn (Chris) LaFosse, Alberta, and Brittany, Sydney River. Also seven greatgrand­children, Dean, Bree and Drew, New Brunswick, Ben and Amelia, Alberta, Alexander and Madison, Alberta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by sisters, Rena and Mildred, Verna in infancy; brothers, Porter and Melvin.

Cremation has taken place. At mom’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Private family interment will take place at a later date at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
