Born April 8, 1925 in Cheticamp, died July 2, 2015, at age 90, at the Foyer Père Fiset in Cheticamp.

He had been a resident of New Waterford for about 71 years prior to entering the nursing home.

He was the youngest of 11 children of Lubin and Elise (Aucoin) Desveaux and the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Joe left Cheticamp at age 16 to proudly work in the coal mines for 43 years.

He is survived by daughters, Eileen of Bonnyville, Alta.; twin, Paulette (Carl) Lennox and Jeanette (Gordon) Snow of Bathurst, N.B., Gina (Barrie) Rodenhiser and son, Luby (Debbie) of Dartmouth, N.S.; son-in-law, Jim Ditchfield of Cold Lake, Alta., 11 grandchild­ren and 13 greatgrand­children.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Mary Agnes (Odo) of New Waterford, and a twin daughter, Pauline Ditchfield of Cold Lake, Alta. He was also predecease­d by two siblings in infancy, sisters Katie Desveaux, Mary Ivy, Antoinette Bourgeois and Olive Chiasson and brothers, Mose, Paddy, Amedee and Eddie. He also leaves behind friends, Angela King, Ann Burlock and Chickey Desveaux of New Waterford and Valerie MacKinnon of New Victoria.

As per his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5th at 2 p.m. in the McLellan Brothers Chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel cemetery and a reception will be held in the funeral home. All are welcome.
