SLOPITCH: The Coors Light Bulldogs mens slopitch team and the Main Event Beverage Room will host the 12th annual Butch Kelloway Memorial Scholarship Men's Slopitch Tournament, July 17-19 in Glace Bay. A total of $38,000 in proceeds has been donated to Glace Bay High School over the past eleven years from this event. Entrance fee is $300 per team. Cash prizes will be awarded based on the number of teams entered. All teams are guaranteed four games, including at least one playoff game in either the 'A' or 'B' division. GOLF: The Bell Aliant Opening Tournament will take place July 11-12 at the Lingan Golf and Country Club. Two person teams; best ball on Sat; scramble on Sun. Meal at Flavor 19 to follow. Cost is $30 for members; $50 for non-members. Contact pro shop at 902-562-1112 for more information.
• The Seaview MacRae Home Hardware Ladies 2-Person Invitational will be held July 14 at Seaview. This will be a 6/6/6 format-holes with best ball, alternate shot and scramble. Shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $15/member and $30/non-members. Deadline to enter is Thursday. Drop off entries at Seaview Pro Shop or send registration to Mary Lou Andrea, 136 Fraser Avenue, Sydney Mines, N.S. B1V 2E1. Please include name, course and handicap factor.
