Card of Thanks

John Neil MacDonald

-

We, the family of the late John Neil MacDonald, wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to our family, wonderful friends and neighbours who helped us through a very sad and difficult time. A special thank you to all who phoned, visited our homes, attended the wake, funeral and interment, brought food, sent flowers, made memorial donations and monetary gifts and to those who travelled from away to share their memories and stories. Thank you to Gail Charlong and Marilyn MacNeil for all their help at our home, making sure there was a meal and tea ready for the many folks who visited. We will be forever grateful and your kindness will not be forgotten. Thank you to Dr. Coakley, staff of the ER Dept. at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Dr. Burns, Palliative Care and EHS Paramedics for their care and compassion. Thank you to Dad’s former Doctors, Dr. Lisa Gammell and Dr. Michael Ryan, to their staff, Brenda and Sherry and to Dr. Archibald for his care, while Dad was a resident of the Cove Guest Home. A special thank you to the management, staff and volunteers at the Cove Guest Home, especially on the Skylight unit. Your respect, care and compassion, not only to Dad, but to his family, will always be remembered. Also to Lindsey at Marco Hearing, Wanda Fedora, who provided Dental Hygiene, and to Antionette Wludyka for providing foot care. Thank you to the County Homemakers, VON, and Sharon Matheson (blood collection) for taking such good care of Dad, while he was at home. He loved to see you folks and made many friends and spoke of you often. A sincere thank you to the DVA, Medi-Chair/Harding Medical, who provided the necessities for Dad to remain in his home for as long as he was able to do so and to Handi-Trans who made it possible for Dad to come home for visits. This is truly a wonderful service you provide and we are forever grateful. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to Rev. Tommy Whent for his friendship, spiritual guidance, visits, and for presiding over Dad’s funeral. Your meditation was a great tribute to Dad. Special thanks to Pearl Miller for being with us and for the eulogy, which was so fitting and to our organist, Keith Burton, Westmount United Church Choir, Johnathan MacInnis for his solos (How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace), and to Piper, Courtney MacPherson for the music he provided at the church and cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to Westside Legion, Branch 126 and bugler, Wendy Bergfeldt and to the members of Grand Anse Legion, Branch 47, for their assistance with the service at the cemetery.
