It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma MacIntyre, age 84, devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Viola (Gardiner) Fifoot.

A graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers College and St. Francis Xavier Junior College, Thelma was a teacher and administra­tor for 36 years at various schools within the Northside Victoria School Board. A lifelong member of St. Pius X parish, she was involved with the CWL as a member and president, as well as being actively involved in the diocesan CWL for several years.

Besides Gerald, her loving husband of 60 years, Thelma is survived by her children, Celeste MacIntyre, Mary Theresa Reilly and Gerard (Jeannette) MacIntyre; grandchild­ren, David, Matthew (Carrie), Katherine (Jason), Colleen, Laura, Mairibeth, Michael, Meghan, and Justin; greatgrand­children, Aidyn, Sabine, Ryan, and Evan and siblings, John (Shirley) Fifoot, Muriel MacKinnon, Colin (Debbie) Fifoot, and Geraldine (Brian) Cullen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Thelma was predecease­d by her son-inlaw, Johnnie Reilly and sisters, Teresa DeBont and Viola (in infancy).

There will be no visitation by request. Funeral mass for Thelma will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiatin­g.

Charitable donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
