It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Joan (Bond) Hammond, age 75, on Tuesday Nov. 24, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.

Joan was born in North Sydney, April 12, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Scott) Bond.

Joan is survived by her husband William Hammond, Halifax; her sons, Mark (Rebecca) Hammond, Ontario, Roderick ‘Roddie’ Hammond, Halifax; her brother, Henry (Debbie) Bond; and her sister Avitus (Lloyd) Fudge, both of North Sydney; her four grandchildren, Rain-Elizabeth, Dax, Montana, Fiona; and by her two nephews, Bobby (Michele) Bond and Steven Bond.

The family would like to thank all those who made Joan’s final days as comfortable as possible, Dr. Irinia Ghenea, Dr. Sharieff, oncology department of Cape Breton Regional Hospital, palliative care, and the wonderful staff at 4West Northside General Hospital.

By request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.

Memorial donations may be made to the palliative-care unit at Northside General Hospital.
