Bos­ton Pizza to re­ceive dis­abil­ity em­ployer award

SYDNEY — The owner of the Bos­ton Pizza fran­chise in Sydney will be hon­oured with an award rec­og­niz­ing his busi­ness’s work with dis­abled peo­ple. The 2015 Lieu­tenant Gov­er­nor’s Per­sons with Dis­abil­i­ties Em­ployer Part­ner­ship Award will be pre­sented to Gord Card dur­ing a luncheon in Hal­i­fax on Tues­day. The award pre­sen­ta­tion is part of the eighth an­nual Abil­ity Starts Here sym­po­sium on in­clu­sive ed­u­ca­tion and em­ploy­ment. Card was cho­sen for the award be­cause of his ef­fort to cre­ate an in­clu­sive work­ing en­vi­ron­ment at Bos­ton Pizza for clients of Em­ploy­A­bil­ity Part­ner­ship, ac­cord­ing to the Nova Sco­tia Hu­man Rights Com­mis­sion. Card has pro­vided em­ploy­ment and men­tor­ing to sev­eral in­di­vid­u­als with dis­abil­i­ties, the com­mis­sion said.
