Boston Pizza to receive disability employer award
SYDNEY — The owner of the Boston Pizza franchise in Sydney will be honoured with an award recognizing his business’s work with disabled people. The 2015 Lieutenant Governor’s Persons with Disabilities Employer Partnership Award will be presented to Gord Card during a luncheon in Halifax on Tuesday. The award presentation is part of the eighth annual Ability Starts Here symposium on inclusive education and employment. Card was chosen for the award because of his effort to create an inclusive working environment at Boston Pizza for clients of EmployAbility Partnership, according to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. Card has provided employment and mentoring to several individuals with disabilities, the commission said. For more information on the symposium, visit the website – www.abilitystartshere.ca.
