Trial for charges related to brutal assault

SYDNEY — A trial date has been set for a Sydney Mines man charged in connection with a vicious assault on a woman in her home. Michael Francis Corbett, 39, of Main Street, is charged with robbery with violence relating to the theft of 24 morphine pills. He is also facing charges of aggravated assault, possession for the purpose of trafficking (morphine pills), assault with a weapon (a wooden club) and mischief by smashing a telephone. His trial is now scheduled for March 1.
