Miners at home to Blues

The Glace Bay Junior Miners will play host to the Cumberland County Blues for a pair of weekend games at the Bayplex. The Miners (37 points) lead the Sid Rowe Division of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, while the Blues (12 points) are in last place. Today’s game is set for 7:30 p.m., while Sunday’s contest will start at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the Strait Pirates upended the visiting Pictou County Scotians 3-2 despite being outshot 32-15 at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre on Friday. Max Morrison scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates, while Morgan Timmons and Ryan Lawless also tallied for the home team. Bradley MacEachern and Joshua Hartley scored for Pictou. Matthew Stymest made 30 saves in recording the victory.
