Problems didn’t stop him

Don’t allow what you don’t have to rob you of what you could have

There was a blind man in the Bible who sat by the roadside begging when he heard that Jesus was passing his way. He called out to Jesus for help but the crowd that was with Jesus told him to be quiet. This did not silence the blind man. He called out again and Jesus stopped and healed his blindness.

I thought if anybody had an excuse to stay stuck in their condition and position in life it would be this blind man. He lived in a day when there were no social programs to help him.

Because he was blind he had to beg for a living. Because he was blind he couldn’t get a job. Because he was blind he was likely very poor. Because he was blind he would likely never find a wife and raise a family. Because he was blind he would never be accepted as an equal in his society.

He had lots of good reasons for his bad condition and you would think that all his hope would be lost. When the crowd told him to be quiet it was likely the easiest thing for him to do but in spite of them he chose to call out again for Jesus to help him.

Are you silent about your needs? Could you use a Heavenly touch? Would a little Divine help make a big difference in your world?

James 4:2 “... you do not have because you do not ask.”

Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”

I had to ask myself, who in the story was really blind? Was it the blind man who couldn’t see in the natural but was able to see that Jesus could change everything? Was it the crowd who could see Jesus in the natural but couldn’t see who Jesus really was?

Jesus asked His followers this question in Matthew 8:18 “Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?”

Is it possible to be a follower of Jesus and allow your problems to blur your vision and miss receiving your miracle? Is it possible to be a follower and not see that Jesus still heals? Is it possible to allow a ‘because’ to become an eternal stopper that stands in the way of you having a better future?

Because I was hurt I will never be normal. Because I was abused I will never be accepted by others. Because I’ve been divorced I will never be accepted by the church. Because of this I will never get beyond that.

The blind man was blind but he could hear and speak. He didn’t focus on what he didn’t have but he used his hearing to hear that Jesus was passing by and he used his voice to call out and ask Jesus for help. He used his faith to believe that Jesus would make a difference and yes he received a miracle.

You are not responsible to use what you don’t have but that’s no excuse to allow what you don’t have to rob you of what you could have.

The blind man believed and Jesus said in Mark 10:52 “Go your way, your faith has made you well.”

Find a good church to attend where people believe in miracles, signs and wonders. Place yourself among those who know that Jesus saves, Jesus heals and Jesus delivers.

God bless you all.
