Mary Florence Burke, age 90 of MacGillivr­ay Guest Home, formerly of 30 Mapleridge Drive, passed away peacefully at the residence on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Fabian and Florence (Coady) Burke.

Mary was a former member of St. Anthony Daniel parish and an active member of the parish CWL. She also did volunteer work for 20 years for the MacGillivr­ay Guest Home and also Harboursto­ne and St. Vincent de Paul. She was employed at St. Rita’s Hospital for 30 years in the laundry department.

She is survived by her family whom she helped to raise including nephew and nieces, John (Joanne) Burke, North Bay, Ont.; Rebecca (Mike) Ackerman, Lindsay, Ont.; Rosemarie (Luc) Mathieu, Oshawa, Ont.; sister, Bernadette LeBlanc, Sydney; niece, Florence Young, her caregiver, Sydney and numerous extended family.

She was predecease­d by numerous sisters and brothers and nephew, Ricky.

Visitation for the late Mary Burke will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Rev. Bill Burke officiatin­g.

Interment in Resurrecti­on Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
