MACKENZIE, Allan ‘Al’ E.

Allan ‘Al’ E. MacKenzie, 94, of the Veterans Health Centre, Moncton and formerly of Stilesvill­e, with his loving wife at his side, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Born in Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late Allan and Margaret (Maggie) (MacKenzie) MacKenzie.

Al was a retired Liaison Officer with UIC Moncton, with 30 years service. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #12, Sydney, NS and Past President of the East Bay, NS Branch #151 Royal Canadian Legion. Al was a Past President of the Air Force Veterans Club and former member of Moncton Legion Branch #6. He was a member of the Burma Star Veterans Associatio­n and a Veteran of WWII, having served overseas with the RCAF ‘Wireless Air Gunner’.

Al will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Francine Belliveau and her children, Bernie (Crystal) and Bradley; daughter, Nora Switzer (Gary) of Alberta and son, Brian (Bernadette) of Grove Heights, Minn; grandchild­ren, Becki Matthews, Brett MacKenzie and Scott Matthews; great grandchild­ren, MacKenzie, Connor and Bennett.

In keeping with Al’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Moncton Legion Branch #6 will hold a Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (8581995). Interment will be held in Hardwood Hills Cemetery, Sydney, NS at a later date.
