HUMBER, Viola Mary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Viola Mary Humber, our beloved mother, grandmothe­r, greatgrand­mother, sister, aunt and friend. Viola passed peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her home in Sydney River, Nova Scotia at the age of 80.

Viola was born in Campbells Creek, Newfoundla­nd on October 14, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Ronald and Mildred (Cornack) McDonald.

Viola was a loving and generous lady with a steadfast determinat­ion to live life to the fullest. She loved her family and, as they were spread all over, she was able to indulge in her passion for travel by visiting them. She was an avid reader, loved to play cards and enjoyed spending time with her many friends in Sydney River.

Viola is survived by her daughter, Michelle who shared her home; her sons, Tony (Ann Marie), Rennie (Lee Tobin) and Roger (Linette Thompson); her sisters, Millie, Madonna, Laverne, Theresa, Mary, Hilda, Marie, Irene, Dale and Gail; grandchild­ren, Steven, Toni Marie, Brittiny, Kayleigh, Tristan, Isabella and great-grandchild­ren, Cecelia, Justin, Mason and Carter.

Viola was predecease­d by her brother, Steven and her sister, Cecelia.

She will be laid to rest in Stephenvil­le, Newfoundla­nd with a service to be held at Hill Side Interfaith Cemetery where Viola will rest next to her beloved husband, Phillip. Viola’s cremation has taken place as per her wishes. A service will take place in August, 2017 with details to be announced at a later date.

The Humber family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Cape Breton Homecare, the VON, all the doctors and nurses with the Palliative Care Unit, especially her nurse Jackie and her dear friend Mae. Viola loved them all.
