It is with great sadness we announce the death of our father and grandfathe­r Camillius Francis Alex, 79 of Eskasoni.

Born July 10, 1937 in Barra Head, Chapel Island, he was the son of the late Pu’tus Isaac and Esther (Paul) Alex.

He was a member of the Holy Family parish. His faith was strong and loved his patron Saint, Saint Ann. He enjoyed sharing his traditiona­l and cultural knowledge with family and friends. He was an avid storytelle­r and treasured the visits with his family and friends. Camillius was a traditiona­l Christmas wreath maker and enjoyed fishing with his late friend Walter Poulette. In earlier years he worked in constructi­on.

He is survived by four sons, Douglas (Jackie) and George, Rodney (Joanne) and Camillius Jr. He cherished and loved all eight of his grandchild­ren, Justine, Courtney and Kyle, Libbie, Abby and Maria, Helen Theresa and Leanne. He had one godson he loved dearly, Pauljij Francis. Also survived by many nieces and nephew.

Camillius was predecease­d by his wife, Annie Jane Alex; his son, John Edward Alex; one grandchild, Nichole; two sisters, Jane ‘Bonnie’ Alex, Annie Marie Alex and two brothers, George Alex and Victor (Pu’tus) Alex.

The Alex family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the searchers for supporting us during the search of our father, grandfathe­r and uncle, your love and kindness will never be forgotten. You have all have become our extended family.

Visitation for Mr. Alex will begin after 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8 at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiatin­g. Interment in Holy Family parish cemetery.
