Baddeck quilt show attracts a crowd

-

Organizers of an annual quilt show say this year’s event drew larger crowds than ever before.

The Baddeck Quilt Guild hosted its 18th annual quilt show at Greenwood United Church last week.

The four-day event, which featured quilt products made by members of the group throughout the year, saw about 350 people walk through the doors, an increase from previous years.

“We had good sales, we had people from the Northside and Sydney area, who purposely made the trip to Baddeck for the show,” said Marsha Smith, a member of the Baddeck guild.

“We had a really good day on (July 19). A lot of the people who came that day were quilters that were either in the area or came to see the show,” she said.

The Baddeck Quilt Guild began in 1999. Today, the club has 30-plus members who meet each Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Greenwood United Church.

The group welcomes new members from across the island.
