Barb is predeceased by her grandparents, Ruth and Allister (Audie) Morrison, Sadie Asseff; mother-in-law, Mary Costelo, and nephew, Cory Morrison.

Barb grew up in Cape North Village surrounded by family and friends. During that time she nurtured a love for home, family, nature and the beach which never faded but only grew with her love of running and cross country skiing.

Barb attended Dingwall Elementary and Cabot Jr./Sr. High School until electing to graduate from Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax. She continued her education attending Laval University and then graduating from St. Mary’s University with both a Bachelor of Arts (French) and a Bachelor of Education.

Barb and Rob married on July 31, 1993 and after spending some years in New Brunswick where Barb began her teaching career, they decided to move home to Cape North. While taking over the family business of Morrison’s Restaurant, Barb embarked on a successful career teaching at Cabot Jr./Sr. High School, going on to become the youngest Vice-Principal and first female Principal at that school. It was a rewarding career she loved and in which she also excelled. Barb was held in very high regard by both students and colleagues alike.

Barb remained a well-respected, active and loved member of her community and was a member of Aspy Bay United Church. Barb will be greatly missed by her family and those who came to know her and her love of life. There was always an open door, a meal and a laugh for any that came by.

Barb’s family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses involved in her care, in particular Dr. Ron MacCormick, Dr. Ken Murray, Dr. John Ritter and Dr. Jason Williams.
