It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Francis “Francie” McPhee, age 82, on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital, with his daughterin-law, Wanda (Nicholson) and sister, Ann by his side.

Born in Dominion on April 22, 1935, he was the son of Mary (MacLean) and Allan McPhee.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Viola (Desrosiers) and sons, Nelson (Semone) and Kevin (Wanda); his grandchild­ren;, his most adored granddaugh­ter, Brittany McPhee ,who shared a special bond with her poppy, she travelled from Edmonton to spend time with her poppy before his passing; his granddaugh­ter, Santana and her child, Brooke and his grandson, Justin.

He is also survived by his brothers, Nelson (Lorraine), Moncton, Eddy (Cathy) Bellingham, Mass; sisters, Ann (Vince) Hazel, Dominion, and Florence (Eddy) Hall, Bellington,Mass; Danny Currie who was like a son to Francie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Francis was predecease­d by his son, Jerry “Dixie” and his son in infancy; brothers, Elmer, Joey, Carl, Alex, Jack and Michael, little Eddy in infancy; sisters, Olive and Sara; mother and father -in-law, Mary and Francis Desrosiers.

Francie was a long time employee with Devco for over 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He served overseas during the Korean War. Francie’s passion was being outside working in the yard. He enjoyed watching boxing, hockey and baseball.

Special thanks to Dr. Jamie MacLean and the nursing staff of the Glace Bay Hospital for their exceptiona­l care, you will never be forgotten, always in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Francie’s wishes there will be no services to follow.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominion Community Hawks Club.
