With our RadioDay event on the horizon, it truly excites us

at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation to see the impact it has.

This year, with 101.9 The Giant and New Country 103.5, we’ll share the stories of patients across the island.

Patients, donors, volunteers and community members often reach out to us to share their stories so that they can help inspire others to give. This year, we have some amazing patients who have shared their experi

ences and remind us why giving back truly matters.

Danielle Boutilier is able to be brave - at home. She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer just a year ago. Since that time, she’s gone through a double mastectomy, 25 rounds of radiation and 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Danielle never had to leave Cape Breton once for treatment.

Jeff Mills will be sharing his story with you. You’ll hear about his heart attack and his amazing recovery. Jeff is one of the founding members of the Mako My Day Shark Fishing Derby. His group has donated over $35,000 to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation in the past six years and this

past year, when his heart was failing, he was brought right to the door of the hospital he supports. He lived.

Many know of our good friend Sean Ferguson, he told his story last year, but this year he has so much more to celebrate. Sean will tell you of his cardiac arrest, his recovery and how he’s

now a proud father and husband thanks to the Cape Breton Regional.

Jill Taylor’s story is a true testament to why giving back is so important. After gifting over $4,000 to the Cancer Patient Care Fund in 2012, this year she went through her own cancer journey and after chemotherapy, surgery and many missed days of work, she needed the exact fund she supported five

years ago.

Finally, you’ll hear from Mike and Nicole MacArthur, parents of our little superhero, Caleb. They’ll tell you all about their journey and how they are creating a legacy and helping other families through honouring Caleb. From the Caleb’s Courage Pediatric Palliative Oncology Superhero Suite, to the Nustar Energy Fairways to Success tournament and the Aviva Community Fund, this movement has raised over $300,000 for little superheroes fighting big battles in Cape Breton.

On RadioDay 2017, they’ll tell you their stories. They’ll remind you why it’s essential that we all give back, so please tune in October 5.

RadioDay 2017 is also a time to celebrate community. Celebrate the businesses that give back year after year. Meco Construction DKI will be matching all donations, up to $10,000.00 in their power hour between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and Jim Sampson Motors will be matching all donations, up to $10,000 in their power hour between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Groups like the Ronnie O’Neil Baseball tournament, the Cape Breton Unionized Trades Dragon Boat Festival and the Chéticamp Walk, who all celebrated 10 years of giving back, will come in and make gifts that will change lives in Cape Breton.

It’s truly a magical day and we invite you to be a part of it with us. All you have to do is tune in, listen and consider making a gift to support your regional hospital.

We want to remind you that giving to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is not just for you, it’s for your entire community. Although the day will be focused on the Operation Heart Campaign, you can choose to designate wherever your heart tells you. Every dollar counts and every gift makes a difference. Please make a gift today, call 1-877-567-8077 or online at www.becauseyoucare.ca/donate

Until no patient needs us, we need you! Feel free to tweet us your thoughts @becauseucare .
