GAUDET, Agnes Evangeline (Vange)

Sydney

-

It is with great sadness that the children of Agnes Evangeline (Vange) Gaudet announce her passing on November 5, 2017 at the age of 86. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Ida (Tighe) and Barney Ryan.

Vange is survived by her three loving children, Shayne Gaudet (Newfoundland), Leslie MacLean (Sydney) and Jill (Sterling) Feener (Sydney), as well as two sisters, Delores Fraser and Marilyn Ryan both of New Waterford. She is survived by her daughterin-law, Debbie Gaudet (Newfoundland); grandchildren, Shana (Bryan) Gushue, Kurtis (Vanessa Viva) MacLean, both from Sydney, Spencer (Brittany), Cody (Stephanie Hardy), Samantha (Lucas MacArthur) and Dakota Gaudet, all from Newfoundland, Mathew (Kaitlyn Lewis) and Emalee Feener of Sydney; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Brady, Cooper and Ty Gushue, all of Sydney, Cali, Jersey, and Lincoln Gaudet, all of Newfoundland. Vange also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Vange was very much a family first person and a friend to all who made her acquaintance. Her whit and sense of humor made her quite the character for tons of laughs. She spent countless hours cheering on the generations of her family at various sporting events within the Cape Breton area including figure skating, hockey and basketball. When she wasn’t tending to family events, Vange could be found attending the odd bingo game or playing a game of cards with her dear friend Patsy Feener.

She worked at the Breton Bay Nursing Home until her retirement.

Vange was predeceased by her soul mate and husband, Rice Gaudet; great granddaughter, Ava Gaudet, and son-in-law, David MacLean, as well as seven brothers and six sisters.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the nurses at the Glace Bay Hospital for the care and compassion they provided to them and Vange.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at S.W. Chant’s and Son Funeral Home at 564 Alexandra St. Sydney from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish 40 Cabot St., Sydney NS.
