It is with deep sadness that we the family have to announce the passing of our beloved Gwen, 97, of Weymouth N.S. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Gwen was the eldest daughter, born Feb. 5, 1920 in Weymouth, N. S. to her loving parents William and Mabel (Dale) Brooks.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Ward (NY); sisters-in-law, Estelle Brooks (Bible Hill), Joan Brooks (North Sydney); many nieces and nephews, and lifelong dear friend, Betty Mullins (Weymouth).

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mable Brooks; husband, Kerr Vibert; brothers, Dale, Noel and Irvin; sisters, Marjorie (John Dixon), Noreen (John Ward) and Elaine, and brother-in-law, Richard Ward.

After graduating from high school Gwen went to Massachusetts to pursue a degree in nursing and worked at the Douglas Hospital in Verdun, Quebec for a number of years then began a new career in the finance dept. of Ogilveys.

Upon retirement Gwen and husband Kerr retuned to Weymouth to enjoy a wonderful life of travel, socializing and entertaining family and friends. The family home was always open to family and friends to come anytime and enjoy her hospitality.

She was a very active lady in her hometown of Weymouth helping out with many teas, luncheons and social events. She loved to knit and attended Time Out at the McConnell Library, Sydney, where she made many friends. We the family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home and Dr. John Kirkpatrick for all their loving care and compassion shown to Gwen during her stay. Funeral arrangements have been made through the caring hands of T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney and Jane’s Funeral Home, Digby, N.S.

A graveside service for Gwen will be held in Weymouth at a later date.
