Temporary closures at Glace Bay emergency department

GLACE BAY — The unavailabi­lity of doctors will mean the temporary closure of the emergency department at the Glace Bay Hospital over the next number of days. The department will close today at 3 p.m. and remain closed until 7 a.m. on Sunday.

A second closure will stretch from 3 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. on Monday, while the third closure will be from 3 p.m. on Monday until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority advises anyone with an emergency to call 911 or go to the nearest open emergency department.

For non-emergency health advice from a registered nurse, call 811. The provincial Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-4298167, according to the health authority.
