It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Clyde Head, age 78, on Friday, November 24, 2017 with his family by his side at the New Waterford Consolidat­ed Hospital.

Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Eli and Mary Eva (Lush) Head.

Tom worked for 37 years in numbers 18 and 12, Lingan and Phalen coal mines. He also fished lobster from New Waterford for over 40 years. Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, Ray and Bradley. He also enjoyed taking credit for picking all the apples. Tom could often be found with his coffee club at McDonald’s on Welton Street, with all his friends, especially his good friend, Gordie Power, who also passed away this summer.

Tom is survived by his sons, Raymond Eli (Alma), Bradley (Gina) ,Linda (Sandy) Hart, Tommy (Lorraine); grandchild­ren, Jonathan, Adam, Evan, Zak, Kathleen, Kelsey, Justin, Bailie, Brayden; also surviving are eight great-grandchild­ren; brother, George (Wendy) , Abercrombi­e, N.S; sisters, Nita Taylor, Frost Proof, Florida, Rebecca (Wilson) Hamlyn, Mt. Tom , N.S. Linda (Mat) Zimmerman, New Castle, Ont.; sister-in-law, Etta Head, New Waterford. Tom was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents ,Tom was predecease­d by his wife of 55 years, Rose Marie (Marchesin) Head; brother, Wallace Head; sisters, Carrie (Ed) Thorne, Anne (Henry) Davis, Hilda Galmont, Pearl (Ralph) Grant and Dorothy (Kitchener) Gouldine; brothers- in- law, Harry (Major) Zimmerman, Paul Taylor; .also by three sisters in infancy, Beatrice, Mary, Lettie Pearl.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the Salvation Army Citadel, New Waterford, with Majors Rocky and Janice Bishop officiatin­g.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A luncheon to follow at the Salvation Army Citadel. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the medical ward in New Waterford Consolidat­ed Hospital; they were always friendly and caring right to the end.
