It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden peaceful passing of Mildred Russell, age 87, our beloved mother, grandmothe­r, sister and aunt, on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at the Northside Community Guest Home after a lifelong battle with MS.

Born on January 5, 1931 in Sydney Mines, Mildred was the daughter of the late Elias and Mary (Lettuce) Landry. In her younger years she enjoyed swimming, picking berries, scratch lottery tickets, she loved animals, attending bingo games but most of all, being at home spending time with her family.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Leona Russell and Shirley (Kevin) MacDonald both of North Sydney; her son, Michael; three grandchild­ren, Nolan, Darcy and Sarah; her brothers, Edward and James, both of Ontario; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her husband, William Russell in 2016; brothers, William, Chuck and

Lloyd; sisters, Adelaide, Louise and Theresa.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for the excellent care given to Mildred during the past 14 years.

By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
