It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George William Fraser, age 75, beloved brother, uncle, granduncle and friend, on Sunday March 11, 2018, at the Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born in North Sydney, December 12, 1942, he was the son of the late David Drummond Fraser and Mary Isabel ‘Mabel’ (MacDonald) Fraser.

George worked as a farmer all of his life, until taking early retirement due to complicati­ons from Parkinson’s Disease. He was an elder of Knox Presbyteri­an Church, Ross Ferry for 50 years and treasurer of the church for 48 years. He was a member of the Southside Boularderi­e Fire Department, as well as being the treasurer for ten years.

George is survived by his brothers, Sandy and David, Southside Boularderi­e; his sister, Mary (Keith) Ryan, Baddeck; nephews, Roddie Fraser, Southside Boularderi­e and William (Rose) Fraser, Beechmont; two grandniece­s, Alexandria and Yzabella, and sister-in-law, Roberta Fraser, Southside Boularderi­e.

The family would like to thank Dr. E. Beaton, Dr. J. Ritter, palliative care nurse Cathy MacMillan, Dr. C. Chow and the staff of the Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck and Victoria County Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to George.

By request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Knox Presbyteri­an Church, Ross Ferry with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiatin­g. Burial will take place at MacDonald Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyteri­an Church, Ross Ferry, Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, or Hospice Palliative Care Victoria County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
