It is with great sadness that we, the family of Thalia MacLellan, regret to announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our sister, aunt, niece and friend on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney on March 27, 1950, Thalia was the daughter of the late Gordon and Matilda (Tillie)(Snow) MacLellan.

Thalia was a graduate of Cape Breton University with a BA degree, and from Dalhousie University with a Masters in Social Work. Her career as a family therapist for Family Services of Eastern Nova Scotia brought her much success and happiness in helping others. Her Christian background and zeal was forever dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others. A member of the Salvation Army, Thalia particular­ly used her musical talentsvoc­als and classical guitar- to bring Christian joy, love and hope to many.

Thalia is survived by her sister, Marsha (Clifford) Smith, North Sydney; her niece, Tasha (Doug) Gallant, Bedford, NS; nephews, Troy (Julie) Smith, Keswick Ridge, NB, and T.J. (Andrea) Smith, Fredericto­n, NB, uncle Dr. D. Lorne (Irene) MacLellan, North Sydney; aunt Marjorie (late Earle) MacLellan, Dartmouth, and aunt Ruby (Gerald) Skinner, Sydney, many cousins, as well as her best friend, Karen Fraser of Hastings, Ontario.

Besides her parents, Thalia was predecease­d by her brother, Paul Kenneth MacLellan.

Her family would like to thank her friends, care givers and Dr. Paul Hickey for the care and compassion shown to Thalia over the past years.

In honouring Thalia’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebratio­n of her life will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Community Church, 25 Inglis St., Sydney, with Major Corey Vincent officiatin­g. A reception will follow in the church hall. Donations in Thalia’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Food Bank, or the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Center.
