DELANEY, Elaine ‘Nadine’ (MacDonald)

Sydney

-

With heavy hearts, we the family, are saddened to announce the passing of Elaine ‘Nadine’ Delaney at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Clifford ‘Deacon’; sons, Clint and Chris; grandson, Campbell; brothers and sisters, Piper (Kathy) MacDonald, Marilyn (Gary) Aucoin, Faye (Sonny) Goode, Linda (Chris) Kieley, Debbie Fewer, Margo (Carmen) Giacomantonio and Sherry MacDonald, and special aunt, Helen Neal. Also, sharing the loss are the numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine also shared a special relationship with her in-laws, the Delaneys.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Catherine MacDonald; brother, David (Sam) MacDonald, and brother-in-law, Doug Fewer.

Side by side with her mother, Kay, she worked as a cleaner at Branch 12 Legion. Elaine worked for many years as a maintenance janitor at Riverview High School until retirement. She was very dedicated to the students and attended many dances and graduations.

Deacon had a special bond with his sidekick, “Fred”, as he often called her. They were truly one of a kind with two hearts that could never be separated.

Both her sons, Clint and Chris, will forever have a void in their lives but never in their hearts.

Elaine was always there for her grandson, Campbell, who she loved and adored. Just like a Sunday drive, she made many trips to Halifax to see her pride and joy playing sports and driving his race car.

Elaine was very valuable to her family. Her role as a mother was not only to her children but also to her brothers and sisters as well as little sis/daughter, Arlene. She was also very good at giving advise especially to her buddy, Coleen.

The Delaney Family Reunion at Whale Cove will never be the same when we gather once more without our special sisterin-law in Cabin 10.

Like a mother, Elaine’s heart, arms and especially her door was always open to anyone. Her love and passion to help others was shown in her willingness to always lead a hand no matter what the need.

Visitation for Elaine will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Fr. Bill Burke officiating.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
