PROCTOR, Hazel Loyola ‘Roseann’

Hazel Loyola ‘Roseann’ Proctor, 85, of Evanston, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She was born April 1, 1933 in Evanston to the late Wallace and Edna (Power) Proctor.

She is survived by her siblings, Ann, Toronto, John (Donna), Antigonish, Rosemarie MacIntyre, Evanston, Mervin (Florence) and Judy Kawaja, both of Port Hawkesbury; special niece and her family, Kelly, Collie, Nathan, Meghan and Ryan Hayes of Port Hawkesbury, and numerous other nieces and nephews

She was predecease­d by her siblings, Michael, Ellen, Wallace and Arthur.

Roseann was a graduate of the Diocese of Antigonish Lay Formation program and received her Diploma in Lay Ministry from St. F.X. She was a Lay Minister in her parish of St. Francis de Sales. She was a Chaplain for the Royal Canadian Legion Br 47, St. Peter’s. She was a retired member of the Strait Richmond Hospital staff, a member of the St. Francis De Sales CWL, Life Long Christophe­r leadership program, New Beginnings, and Cursillo. Her passion was to be involved in Religious studies and devoted her time and talent to teaching both young and old. She spent many hours travelling near and far for her Love to God.

A special thank you to the staff of St. Martha’s hospital and Barbara Malcolm who has been a wonderful support to Roseann throughout the years.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Friday from St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitant­s with Father Joe MacKenzie officiatin­g. Burial in St. Patrick’s Parish Cemetery, Whiteside.

Memorial donations may be made to Whiteside Church Preservati­on Society (St. Patrick’s).
