An Upper Leitches Creek man has been released on conditions after posting $30,000 worth of property to secure his release.

Albert Francis Roy, 30, posted $10,000 in property while two other people added the same amount and a third person chipped in $5,000 worth of property. Roy is charged with 17 counts of breaching court orders, including failing to keep the peace, failing to refrain from alcohol and drugs, and failing to abide by a curfew.

Nine of the breaches allegedly occurred in Sydney earlier this month, along with a charge of possession of marijuana.

He is return to court in Sydney on June 4 to enter pleas.

Roy is also facing charges that allegedly occurred Jan. 21 in Truro. Those charges include eight counts of breaching court orders and single counts of carrying a weapon dangerous to public peace (a handgun), carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a restricted weapon with no licence, possession of a loaded firearm, and carrying a weapon dangerous to public peace (a knife).

Roy is scheduled to have a preliminar­y hearing on those charges April 16 in Truro.

Among the conditions of his release, Roy is to refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed him by a doctor, he is not to possess any weapons, and is to remain in his residence unless accompanie­d by one or more of the individual­s who posted bail.
