New music event taking place over Canada Day weekend

The Canada Day weekend will feature a new outdoor music and beer event at the Breton Brewing location on Keltic Drive.

Under The Breton Sky: The Breton Brewing Beer and Music Festival will take place on Saturday, June 30 at the brewery’s Keltic Drive location, in the parking lot area.

The event will open at 4 p.m. and the performanc­es will run from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

It will be headlined by Matt Andersen and The Bona Fide. It will be Anderson’s only Cape Breton performanc­e this summer. He has just released his latest album, “Live At Olympic Hall.”

The one-day event will also feature some of this region’s hottest musical acts including Dave Sampson with Band, Slowcoaste­r, Jordan Musycsyn Band and Carmen Townsend Band.

All of the brewery’s beers will be available at this event.

The event will also feature food from local food trucks such as Little Rollin Bistro, Mermaid Food Truck and Annie’s Ice Cream.

There will be limited early bird tickets, $45 plus service and tax available until Saturday, June 9.

There will be limited VIP tickets that include a special beer patio, tap room and front of stage area with own bar and bathroom that will go for $75 plus tax and service charges.

General admission is $55 plus tax and service in advance and on the day of the show, $65 plus tax and service.

The event is organized by Breton Brewery and Sociable Entertainm­ent.
