With sadness, we, the family of Elizabeth Ann Brookman, regret to announce her passing on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 16, 1946, in Sydney, Betty was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Sheppard.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, Whitney Pier.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Wendy, Sydney; son, Scott (Margaret), Sydney; the father of her children, William Walter Brookman; sisters, Kay (Gardener) Young and Jane Sheppard, Coxheath; brother, David (Julie), Whitney Pier; grandchild­ren, Alexandra, Noah and Chelsea and numerous nephews. She is also survived by her life-long friend, Rev. Mother Phyllis Marsh.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her sister, Margaret and brothers, Vincent and Michael.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 23 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday, June 24 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Mother Phyllis Marsh officiatin­g. Interment in Resurrecti­on Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Breton, Whitney Pier Youth Club.
