It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Deborah MacNeil Hanrahan, age 65, at home surrounded by family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Viola (MacDonald) MacNeil.

In her early years she was employed with Highland Fisheries, and later years she was a stay at home mom. Her greatest achievemen­t was her family. She enjoyed shopping and her happy place was out on the Mira.

Debbie is survived by her partner of 44 years, Michael Hanrahan; her daughters, Charlotte Hanrahan (Christophe­r Isenor), Stephanie Hanrahan (Kenneth Morrison); sons, Vincent (Paulette) Hanrahan, Christophe­r Hanrahan; her four precious grandchild­ren, Bryden Hanrahan, Michael Frison, Brayden Hanrahan-Glover, Myah Isenor. She is also survived by her brothers, John Joe (Thelma) MacNeil, Jerry (Anna) MacNeil, Thomas (Margaret) MacNeil, Darryl (Anne Marie Reid) MacNeil, Michael (Sheila) MacNeil, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cape Breton Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the staff of VON, Palliative Care, the New Waterford Consolidat­ed Hospital, and the Cape Breton Cancer Centre for all the care and support given to Debbie during her illness.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. with Father Daniel Boudreau officiatin­g at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist­s, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
