It is with great sadness, that we the family announce the sudden passing of Wayne Babstock, age 80 on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his residence in Glace Bay.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Thomas and Eva (Gardiner) Babstock. Wayne was employed in various coal mines in the local area as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping out on the Mira. Wayne will be remembered as a homebody and a very quiet, good natured man whose was always ready to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa (McGuigan) Babstock; two daughters, Wendy (Ian MacDonald) and Terra, both of Glace Bay and one sister, June Politte (Peter), Glace Bay.

Also surviving are his four grandchild­ren, Danielle Campbell (Adam), Neil Taylor, Jonathan, Alecia and four greatgrand­children, Joshua, Breagh, Neil, Charley and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predecease­d by two sons, Wayne Thomas and Paul Allan; one grandson, John Paul and three brothers, Thomas, Harry and Winston.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, October 14, 2018 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.

The Funeral Mass officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment at a later date in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
