SYDNEY — The public should expect to see an increased military presence in the Sydney area due to a training exercise taking place in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality this weekend. Weapons using blank ammunition and a number of military vehicles will be used as part of the exercise and as a result there will be a noticeable increase in noise in the vicinity of the training area.

The Canadian Forces said in a release issued Friday that the military convoys will be travelling on highways and local roads in the CBRM. “These convoys will have minimal anticipated impact on traffic,” it reads.

Members of the public are asked to follow safety instructions should they approach or encounter soldiers and vehicles during this training.
