BUTTS, Annie Agnes

-

Port Morien

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of a beloved wife, mom, grandmother, and sister, Annie Agnes (Cathcart) Butts, age 84. Born in Port Morien, she was the daughter of David and Bessie (MacIntosh) Cathcart.

“Ma”- “Nannie” was the rock of our family; she had a devotion to her family like no other. A devoted wife, she spent her days raising her children. In her younger years, you could always find her at the ball-field cheering on her children then her grandchildren. There was nothing like walking into her house to the smell of homemade bread and buns. The door was always open, and the teapot was always on. We will miss her daily phone calls and a witty sense of humour. She could always put a smile on anyone’s face. She gave the best advice whether we wanted to hear it or not.

She will be greatly missed by her loving devoted husband, Gordon ‘Binky’ Butts, her six children, Lorraine (Kevin), Gordon (Angie), Harvey (Arlene), Stan (Linda), Jackie (Debbie), Marion (Greg); her 7 grandchildren, Neila, Becky, Leanne, Tara, Kyle, David and John Gordon; her 13 great-grandchildren. Special brother, Dougie (Brenda); sister, Ruth. Many nieces and nephews, sister and brothersin-law along with her special friends to whom she always welcomed a phone call or visit from.

She was predeceased by her parents, David and Bessie Cathcart, mother and fatherin-law, Harvey and Barbara Butts; sisters, June, Helen and Margaret; brothers, David, Earl and Barney and brother and sisters-in-law.

She was humble and kind and in honouring her wishes there will be no visitation a graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.tjtracey.com.
