Pouria Rezapour is a first-year Dalhousie Family Medicine resident completing his training in Cape Breton. He earned his medical degree through the University of British Columbia and is currently working at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney and will be there until July 2020. Rezapour is one of 12 medical residents currently working in Cape Breton.

Why did you choose to study medicine: I wanted to do something that challenged me to solve problems and integrate science and ethics in service to humanity. What about your profession has surprised you: I have found it strange that on the one hand we have armies of people in health care tirelessly working to improve community health, yet we see health problems growing. It has made me wonder: how can each of us take some responsibi­lity for ensuring that the next generation develops healthy habits in the various dimensions of their lives?
