Summit provides mix of events
The 4-H Canada Leadership Summit is the premier 4-H professional development, knowledgesharing and networking opportunity for 4-H volunteer leaders.
Successful applicants will meet 4-H leaders, provincial directors and staff from across the country. It is an opportunity for sharing learning and recognition to support the work being done right across the country.
This year’s leadership summit theme, Building bridges: connecting youth and community, was inspired by the host city of Saskatoon (known as The City of Bridges) and the 4-H Canada positive youth development formula. The 4-H clubs provide opportunities for peer friendships, sharing of skills and perspectives, and a sense of common cause. When our clubs practise the youth-adult partnership model, 4-H youth feel they have a role and a voice within an organization that values them.
Experts recognize the value of the communities our leaders strive to create within 4-H. Research suggests that feeling connected to adults, a community, and public institutions is a powerful indicator of continued civic engagement for youth. The leadership summit is an opportunity for 4-H volunteer leaders, professionals and the youth advisory committee to showcase the communities they are building, share innovative program ideas and hear from experts on emerging topics. It will include a mix of interactive workshops, expert keynotes, sharing and networking sessions and some fun.
This summit will be held in Saskatoon from Jan. 20-Feb. 2. Interested 4-H volunteer leaders are asked to contact the Sydney office at 902-563-2000 for registration forms. The deadline for application consideration is Monday.
All travel-specific expenses are covered by 4-H Nova Scotia fundraising campaigns throughout the program year. Eligible leaders must currently be a registered and fully screened leader in the program to apply. Leaders selection will be announced early in November.
