Red­men roll past Wild­cats in high school hockey ac­tion; Rebels beat Saints

SYD­NEY – The Riverview Red­men and In­ver­ness/Bad­deck Rebels picked up wins in their re­spec­tive high school hockey league play on Fri­day.

In Cape Bre­ton High School Hockey League ac­tion at the Cape Bre­ton County Recre­ation Cen­tre in Cox­heath, the Riverview Red­men downed the Syd­ney Academy Wild­cats 12-2.

Kin­non Wil­liams had a hat trick for Riverview, while An­drew McCar­ron and Josh Mun­roe added a pair of goals each. Chase Samp­son, Bry­den John­ston, Tan­ner Udle, Josh Ma­cAskill and Brady MacLean also added goals for the Red­men.

Justin This­tle and Ethan MacIn­nis replied with goals for the Wild­cats.

Ryan Tan­ner was the win­ning goal­tender for Riverview. Donny Goo­Goo was tagged with the loss for Syd­ney Academy.

In Cape Bre­ton West High School Hockey League ac­tion in In­ver­ness, the In­ver­ness/ Bad­deck Rebels blanked the Strait Area Ed­u­ca­tion Recre­ation Cen­tre Saints 3-0. Josh Ben­nett, Ross Mullins and Frankie Mac­Neil each scored goals for In­ver­ness/ Bad­deck.

Hunter Florence was be­tween the pipes for the shutout.
