Showing 4-H colours

- BY MARINA GILLIS AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP CO-ORDINATOR

The Show Your 4-H Colours activities and ceremonies on Nov. 7, kicked off global 4-H events taking place throughout November.

The 4-H countries around the world are celebrating the 4-H movement.

Show Your 4-H Colours is about showing 4-H pride. Each November 4-H’ers from across the country don their 4-H colours, get out into their communities, post to social media, do acts of kindness and spread awareness about the program and share their enthusiasm for everything 4-H.

The 4-H program empowers youth to become skilled, engaged and responsible leaders who are passionate about making meaningful contributions to their communities.

It strives to provide a safe, fun and inclusive environment that prepares 4-H members to make a positive impact on their clubs and communities.

Challenges are now out for clubs and counties in Cape Breton and surrounding regions to show their 4-H pride.

Let’s put 4-H on the map in November by sharing your 4-H story. Highlight why 4-H is important to you, a best memory you have had in 4-H or how you have raised awareness of 4-H in your community. You can even add a video to your story by providing the YouTube or Vimeo link. All stories must be listed on the global map on submission site. Provide a location where you would like the story to point. It could point to where your story took place or where you lived when it happened. You can also provide a geolocation.

Showing your 4-H colours has never been so much fun. Visit https://www.showyour4hcolours.ca/send-a-story/ to start the celebrations. Contact your local 4-H clubs for more information on activities.
