Eska­soni man ac­cused of ar­son re­leased on con­di­tions

SYD­NEY — An Eska­soni man was re­leased from cus­tody Tues­day on a host of con­di­tions after be­ing charged with of­fences that in­clude ar­son. Cory Alexan­der Young, 32, is also charged with ut­ter­ing a threat and break, en­ter and theft. The of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred Jan. 2 in Eska­soni.

He is also charged with three counts of as­sault and sin­gle counts of as­sault with a weapon (a knife), un­law­ful con­fine­ment, ut­ter­ing threat and mis­chief. Those of­fences al­legedly oc­curred be­tween Jan­uary 2017 and Jan­uary 2019.

Among the con­di­tions of his re­lease, Young is to live at a Syd­ney ad­dress on Bentinck Street, he is not to pos­sess any weapons, must re­frain from al­co­hol, re­port once a week to po­lice by phone, and re­main in the res­i­dence at all times with ex­cep­tions for med­i­cal emer­gen­cies, le­gal and coun­selling ap­point­ments, and a four-hour pe­riod ev­ery Thurs­day dur­ing which he can con­duct per­sonal busi­ness.

He is to re­turn to court Jan. 29 to en­ter pleas.
