SUDBURY, ONT. — Bruce Massey scored 43 points to lead the

Cape Breton Highlanders to a 121-116 win over the Sudbury Five in National Basketball

League of Canada action Saturday in the northern Ontario city.

Massey, who surpassed the 42 points he recorded two nights earlier in a 129-122 overtime victory over the London Lightning (8-10), also pulled down nine rebounds, while Chris Johnson fired 22 points and Jamal Reynold chipped in 14 along with a game-high 15 rebounds.

His recent dominant offensive performances have now pushed the Highlanders team leader into third place in the league’s scoring race with a 24.1 points per game average, just a half a point behind Braylon Rayson of Sudbury who leads with a 24.6 ppg mark.

The win leaves the Highlanders into a first-place tie with the Moncton Magic in the league’s Atlantic Division. Both teams have 13-7 records.

Cape Breton concludes its fourgame Ontario road trip on Tuesday when they take on the KW Titans (8-6) in Kitchener.
