Massey on fire for High­landers

SUD­BURY, ONT. — Bruce Massey scored 43 points to lead the

Cape Bre­ton High­landers to a 121-116 win over the Sud­bury Five in Na­tional Bas­ket­ball

League of Canada ac­tion Satur­day in the north­ern On­tario city.

Massey, who sur­passed the 42 points he recorded two nights ear­lier in a 129-122 over­time vic­tory over the Lon­don Light­ning (8-10), also pulled down nine re­bounds, while Chris John­son fired 22 points and Ja­mal Reynold chipped in 14 along with a game-high 15 re­bounds.

His re­cent dom­i­nant of­fen­sive per­for­mances have now pushed the High­landers team leader into third place in the league’s scor­ing race with a 24.1 points per game av­er­age, just a half a point be­hind Bray­lon Rayson of Sud­bury who leads with a 24.6 ppg mark.

The win leaves the High­landers into a first-place tie with the Monc­ton Magic in the league’s At­lantic Divi­sion. Both teams have 13-7 records.

Cape Bre­ton con­cludes its fourgame On­tario road trip on Tues­day when they take on the KW Ti­tans (8-6) in Kitch­ener.
