-

It is with profound sadness and heartache that we the family announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Pauline Coffin, otherwise known as Polly. She was born December 2, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Weldon and Millie Boutilier. Polly peacefully passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving daughters and family by her side on January 16, 2020. Polly is survived by her loving daughters, Camie, Saundra (Erin), and Kitty (Karl); her beautiful granddaughters, Rebecca, Brynn and Maddy; her handsome grandsons, Riley and Brandon; and the sparkle in her eye, her great-granddaughter, Sandra. Polly is also survived by her brother, Danny Boutilier (Doris) and sister, Elaine Saccary (Andy). She will also be sadly missed by her brothers-inlaw, Tom Shea, Joey Coffin and John Bedard; sisters-in-law, Lynda Brulotte (Michel), Nancy Jean Coffin, Barbara Coffin, Valerie Coffin, Elizabeth Coffin, Nancy Coffin and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Bert Coffin; her parents-in-law, Leo and Margaret Coffin; her loving sister, Tena Shea; brothers-in-law, Art Coffin and Tony Coffin; sisters-in-law, Peggy Bedard and Karen Coffin. Polly was employed with Service Canada for 30 years, up until her retirement. Mom was an avid Boston Bruins fan, a devoted Screaming Eagles fan, and she loved her Toronto Blue Jays. But her true passion was her grandchildren, regularly attending their activities, from Hockey to Band Concerts, Cadets and Cheerleading. She was their biggest fan. As per Polly’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Monday January 20, 2020 from 1 pm - 2 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating, all taking place at TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay. A Celebration of Life to follow at the Gardiner Mines Community Centre, 6429 Seaside Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Patient Fund or Cape Breton Hospice Palliative Care.
